This section of Exodus will provide a powerful reminder of mankind’s inherent wickedness and God’s holiness. Having received God’s law and committed to keeping His covenant, the people followed up this display of whole-hearted assent with one of the most egregious acts of willful defiance found anywhere in Scripture.
